Poetry is born within your soul It seeps through your pores and clings to everything essentially moving itself through you You feel it first as a chill as thin jagged nails piercing tiny holes this poetry begins to fester and grow and crawl upwards leaving trails of minuscule wounds they lay within you open gaping bleeding If left untreated poetry will begin to slowly rot you will bleed until you are dry unless you open your mouth and give it life ~By Amina Abdulle | Yesterday, March 21, was World Poetry Day and what a glorious day it was! I spent most of it on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram soaking up as much poetry as I could. Poetry is more than mere words on a page, for me, poetry is life and a lifeline. Poetry is my best friend when I am inconsolable, it is my therapist when I am confused and it is my comfort when I am lonely. Poetry is a vehicle is which we can share ourselves by exploring what excites us, what puzzles us and imploring others to take that journey with us. Poetry is meant to be an honest expression of human experience and I could not image living with out this possibility. I would like to share the images and poems from my day yesterday that I so loved and wish you a happy poetry day for yesterday, for today and for all your poetic days to come. |
Why do you love poetry? What moves you?
Please do share.
Peace,
Amina :)
